Hi, now I'm getting the same behavior with a clean debian unstable machine (gnome-shell and gdm),
with the official guest-additions package.

So it seems not a bug in virtualbox-guest-dkms, but somewhere else.

do you have any clue?

cheers,

Gianfranco

I tried r106140, and the one you posted (the first one, not the intermediate 106108).

note: I tried the dkms debian package, your guest-additions-iso file is working (at least the first one
was working).

without xorg-legacy package, I can build it successfully (some header files have been added, so I had to add
them to the build too), and on reboot, I get the full-screen mode correctly, but seems I can't write anything, and
some sort of deadlock or similar happens.

I'm attaching two screenshots, one in recovery mode.

maybe some policy rules are missing?

what I did was: reboot with an older kernel (no vboxvideo kernel module), and from there I could login/logout.

interestingly enough:
the screen seems to be *not* updated.

I mean, I see that "stuck login screen", nothing happens, I can click everywhere I want without success, but if I switch to host and
back to guest (ALT+TAB key), I can see the screen changes, with the typed password.
trying to login results in a blank screen and after a few seconds again the same login screen.

Do you have any clue?

I'm attaching the dkms make.log too.
