No -or-. You can use them both side-by-side, or you can ignore Qemu
backend altogether. It is up to you. It means you can mix Qemu and
VirtualBox VMs in one topology, if you so choose.

GNS3-VirtualBox backend is new (I wrote only recently), and does not
conflict with old Qemu backend. (which exist for years)
