VDE definetely worked for me on Mandriva Linux 2010 -- both VBox OSE
(compiled from sources) and VBox PUEL v3.2.0 tested.

Can you try the PUEL version, to see if it works with VDE ?

VDE is *not* shown during the configure stage, even if enabled, unlike
other libraries/dependencies.

Can you see if VDE option listed in the Qt4 GUI ? (near NAT/bridged
network option)
