It might refer to Cadmus, a German mainframe computer brand in 1980s
and 1990s. The reason is probably that MAC addresses are not assigned
too liberally. Instead, you need to ask for a large portion. Innotek
probably bought a slice of those MAC addresses before or after Cadmus
went dust.
