Hello Rafael,

Qemu supports 2 modes of operations: User-level emulation and Full
system emulation.

AFAIK Only the "User-level" emulation allows you to select kernel from
host, bypassing guest's bootloader, but I have never used this mode.

VirtualBox is a functional equivalent of the latter type - Qemu's Full
system emulation, and offers no "user-level", and it cannot bypass
guest's bootloader.
