To reproduce problem A:
1. create new VM (Windows XP) -- no need to start it
2. create snapshot

Congratulations ! Your storage settings will be hosed !

To reproduce problem B:
Please remove all storage controllers from VM (or just follow step
"A"), and try to re-add them,
IDE/CDROM, and VDI image with snapshot in IDE controller.
