[vbox-dev] Latest svn vbox runs only as root?

A very recent commit to svn makes it impossible to run vbox as
an ordinary user, even if I set it suid root.

The gui appears normally until I click on Settings or Run, and
then I get a popup dialog saying:

Failed to create a new session.
Callee RC: NS_ERROR_FACTORY_NOT_REGISTERED (0x80040154)

Do you devs run vbox as root?  If not, how do you run the latest
svn version?
