Description (last modified by )
Dear VirtualBox team,
scottgus1 (site moderator of VirtualBox forum), recommended to open a bug ticket after discussion of the issue in the forum: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?p=545579#p545579
When entering a USB stick or a Fujitsu fi5120c scanner to a Windows7Professional guest, being virtualized using VirtualBox 7.0.12 on a XUbuntu 22.04 host, then the USB stick (minimum example) is not recognized properly and the windows device manager states "unknown device". This worked with the same configuration under VirtualBox 6.1.48. After turning VirtualBox back to 6.1.48 it also smoothely worked again. The VirtualBox USB settings have been set to USB 2.0 (extpack). USB 3 cannot be used in combination with Windows7 and the installation of Intel's USB 3 driver pack (Intel extensible USB 3.0 host controller driver)on Windows 7 didn't work because not specified prerequisites were not fulfilled (very general error message).
The same problem occurs with XUbuntu 22.04 as guest OS. The problem doesn't occur with Windows10 as guest OS.
A fix of the probem would be highly appreciated since the support of VirtualBox 6.1 has come to an end.
In the attachment I send you a log file zip with the nonworking 7.0.12 version and a log file zip generated on the reverted 6.1.48 version (on a second computer). I have 7.0.12 still installed on my first computer and I am ready for supporting the process with tests.
Thank you in advance!

We're working on a fix. In case you can (temporarily) live with a VM having little memory: if you set the memory size to 2GB then EHCI will work.

Thank you Klaus, that's it! I just testwise reduce the RAM setting of the Win7 Guest VM to 2GB and it works! Thank you in advance for providing the fix!
