Description (Last modified by frank)

Hi, open solaris 5.10 x86 doesn't work on VirtualBox 1.5.0 and VirtualBox 1.4.0. When the installation start, appear the lincense e after the vm freez. I try to install the vm with the physical cd-rom and with the iso of the os. I disable all virtual hardware, the hardware enable is basic (hard disk). The ram assigned is 1 Gb and the hd size is 7Gb.

Bug verified. Solaris 10 (2005) doesn't boots on VBox 1.5.0.

I am currently personally evaluating Virtual Box 1.5 at home and when I have completed my evaluation I may recommend it be used by my company in our testing environment, but this is largely dependent on whether I can install and run all supported OS's as listed on your website, anyway I found that I could not install Solaris 5.10 as it froze on the first installation screen as described in this ticket(#621). Please could someone inform me since this bug has now been verified: What is the expected release date of the version containing the fix?

  • summary changed from problem with opensolaris 5.10 x86 on virtualbox 1.5.0 to problem with opensolaris 5.10 x86 on virtualbox 1.5.0 -> fixed in SVN/1.5.2.

Three known issues are now solved: - hang during early boot - network failures - crash/fatal error when starting the Gnome desktop

Actually the fix for the hang during boot slipped through the cracks and was not included in 1.5.2.

Hi all !

Tested today's SVN.

I still having problems with Solaris 10 (2005) guest.

Beforehand Solaris stuck right after boot, now it stuck on Language menu selection.

Host: openSUSE 10.3, 32-bit PAE, Intel Core 2 CPU.

VBox OSE Today's SVN r5630.

With ACPI=on, APIC=off, VT=off, stuck on language selection.

With ACPI=on, APIC=off, VT=on, the guest auto-restarts in loop.

With ACPI=off, APIC=off, VT=off, the guest segfaulted twice on init, but setup continued. (perhaps those were non-important processes)

Even with this last case, setup failed near the end, after copied all the files, and after (unsuccessful) Xsun settings menu.

Please retry with 1.5.4. One fix did it not make into 1.5.2.

Unfortunately, the behavior is the same is described above. Using Solaris 10 (2005).

Tried on VirtualBox 1.5.4 on Windows XP host, Intel Core 2.
