I've tested a little bit more.

It's working till the windows gets the focus. The Windows XP is communicating on the network, the clock is ticking maybe this is a problem with the mouse handling (or the VBoxGuestAdditions)

my customized keyboard layout prevented to open the authentication dialog (another problem) and because of this the VirtualBox crashed.

it should not have crashed but it wasn't exactly a VirtualBox bug.

If the authentication dialog in Snow Leopard is the reason, this problem is fixed in SVN & the fix will be included in the next minor release.
