If I remember well , wifi card don' t accept promiscuous mode :(

I experience the same problem. I believe it's a wifi card limitation of handling a bridged network. (I have the same problem in VMWare). NAT does work over wifi though (however certain applications won't work properly with NAT).

Could the people experiencing this problem add information about
1) which host system they are using and 2) precisely which wireless card they have
Basically, in order for VirtualBox bridged networking to work, the card (and the driver) must support so-called promiscuous mode (you can also try googling to see if your card and driver support it). This is not required for NAT networking. However, VMWare should also have this requirement - their documentation explicitly says that bridged networking will not work over wireless. flysats, are you sure you were using bridged in VMWare?

wojzie2022: As I mentioned above, some wireless cards reportedly do support bridging, but most do not. Also, I do not know exactly what Parallels is doing in its networking setup. If you are having trouble with VirtualBox host networking, please say which card you are using. (I presume that your host system is running Mac OS).

I just filed bug #735 with a possible workaround for this. Will only work for some individuals and depends on how the router that you are using will handle the fact that multiple ip address requests are coming from the same mac address. I have found that the Netgear WGR614 and Linksys WRT54GL (modified with DD-WRT firmware) will both do this fine but the 2Wire Wireless Gateway modems will not. Anyways both vmware and parallels on the Windows platform work fine and I am certain that I was doing bridging.
P.S. - My adapter is a broadcom based adapter. The Dell 1500 Draft-N to be specific and contains the same identical chipset used on apple laptops where parallels is commonly run.
