I think it's my fault.
UI was unusual for me and I have not notice the way to add attacment at first.
And, as I saw, attach file I can only after submitting the ticket.
I'm sorry.

Regarding your problem: Was the installation of VirtualBox successful or did you experience some error during installation? Did you install the host USB service as well (selected by default)?

comment:3 by familiar, 15 years ago

Installation was succesfull without any errors. No, I didn't install USB service.

Also happening here. Vista x64 SP1 host. XP Pro guest. USB service installed.

Tried, also, using "Run as Administrator" with no joy.

This problem is new with VBox 2.0.4 (only started using VBox since v1.6).

My screen grab of the Warning dialog would've been identical so I did not post it.

I had have the same problem on Vista x86 SP1. I installed VBox 2.0.4 on Administrators account and on both User and Administrator account "Could not load Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)". So I reinstalled it under the Users account and all went well. Now the USB service for VBox run as usual.

Sorry for my bad English I'am from German

Hello,

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 - the Intrepid Ibex - released in October 2008 like host I've installed virtualbox-2.0_2.0.6-39765_Ubuntu_intrepid_i386.deb withot error.

All access to configuration, or all points in details like USB, Geneal I get the error:

Could not load the Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND). The service might be not installed on the host computer.

It's impossible to add an USB to the virtual machine.

Who can help? It's a bug??

Replying to morozov:

I have same problem, it has appeared after host system upgrading - from Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 8.10.

I'm sorry, i have found the solution there: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/User_FAQ

I have the same error message, but didn't update to Ubunto 8.10, have still 8.04. But the message occurs after updating to Virtualbox 2.1.0 from an older version (VBox open source edition installed by Synaptic). For this, I downloaded VB from this web site directly. I didn't influence the installation in any way, as far as I know.

Second point: Old VMs are running as usual, but a new one hangs when accessing a shared host folder. All VMs have Windows 2000 SP4 as guest OS. I'm not sure whether these 2 points are in coincidence with each other.

Can the solution from the FAQ be done on Hardy Heron as well? Funny point is, that the mentioned lines of code are already there, but commented out.

Hi,

I have installed OpenIndiana b151 and installed VirtualBox 4.0.12 and extension pack which I used to create a new Win2K VBox which is working, however when I select Settings the VirtualBox warning

Failed to access the USB subsystem. Could not load the Host USB Proxy service: VERR_ACCESS_DENIED.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x00004005) Component: Host Interface: IHost {35b004f4-7806-4009-bfa8-d1308adba7e5} Callee: IMachine {662c175e-a69d-40b8-a77a-1d719d0ab062}

I then upgraded to VirtualBox v4.1.2 with the correct extension but it still generates the same error.

I recently upgraded to 4.1.2 as well. Even on version 4.0 this was happening. I'm running Win7 64 bit with a variety of guest OS's. Back on version 3.X I don't remember ever having these issues. I'm unable to work with my Android phone or any other USB devices now either. (Sorry to post a "me too", but I couldn't find a button for it)
