initial v1 23 23 24 24 So they are not availabe to these older Linux distributions simply because those do not use systemd at all. Ie. this environment variable will be also missing on any modern Linux distro without systemd support, and there are some. 25 26 Mighr use WAYLAND_DISPLAY and DISPLAY instead of XDG_SESSION_TYPE. 27 28 XDG_SESSION_TYPE is a non-standard part of systemd, and not set if you run a compositor from the command line, for instance.
