Description
Newly installed Linux guest rendered useless (for me) due to the emulated ac97 codec.
Host: Mac, OS X 10.11.6 Hypervisor: Virtual box 5.1.2 r108956 Guest: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
I first notified Ubuntu about this, but learned that it is due to some changes between version 4 and 5 of VirtualBox. Link to that -https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1605797
