./VBoxManage modifyvm xxxxxxxxxxxxx --nic1 vde --vdenet1 default<br>
and change the nic1<br>
NIC 1: MAC: 080027885EF8, Attachment: VDE Network '', Cable<br>
connected: on, Trace: off (file: none), Type: Am79C973, Reported speed: 0<br>
Mbps, Boot priority: 0<br>
but doesnt respond well<br>

VDE definetely worked for me on Mandriva Linux 2010 -- both VBox OSE<br>
(compiled from sources) and VBox PUEL v3.2.0 tested.<br>
<br>
Can you try the PUEL version, to see if it works with VDE ?<br>
<br>
VDE is *not* shown during the configure stage, even if enabled, unlike<br>
other libraries/dependencies.<br>
<br>
Can you see if VDE option listed in the Qt4 GUI ? (near NAT/bridged<br>
network option)<br>

NOTE: "--vdenet1 default", where "default" should be equal to your VDE switch...<br>

Like:<br>
/tmp/vde_sw1<br>
<br>
Additionally user permissions must match between VDE switch and the<br>
user who runs VBox. (not sure, but probably)<br>
